What I need now,
Is to get a grip.
Spent too long falling, scrabbling,
Clawing the walls closing around me
While the bottom drops out.
Need to find a crack,
A deep slit in the concrete of life.
Shove my fingers in
And cling on.
Let the rest fall.
Look a thousand feet down
Into the dark,
As the memories, hopes, wants,
Thoughts, madness, ignorance,
Desires, stupid dreams, plummet on.
Enjoy seeing these vast
Weights disappear into the beyond.
Fall from my tired shoulders,
Free and alive with a new
Lighter life.
Raise my face to freedom.
Gaze up and find a new grip,
One with clearer air,
That brings me closer to
Feeling the sun on my face.
